Hi! I’m Cameran, an animal lover from Charlotte, NC. I have always been passionate about rescue and animals--my first word was "doggy" if that tells you anything! I've had my "free" kitty Clarice (though no animal is free in the long run!) since I was fifteen and she's been with me everywhere; Clarice even traveled across the United States when I briefly moved from NC to California.
During 2020, while everyone was bored and at home from lockdown, I connected more to my local rescue community through social media and I found myself even more passionate about helping others find their best friend through adoption. I helped friends and strangers alike search through different rescues when they were struggling to find the best fit for their homes. Many people I helped ended up adopting (yay!), but there were a handful of people that gave up because the process was so overwhelming for them. Some people found it exhausting to fill out applications for each rescue, while others just had a hard time finding a good fit. On the other hand, my rescue friends were exhausted with animals being returned when it didn't work out. I thought to myself, there has to be a better way for everyone. What if you could search for animals by personality instead of just breed or age? What if the rescue could set limitations so that someone in an apartment never sees the dog that requires a fenced yard?
And to skip to the good part, here we are. Snooter was my solution to the problems I saw in our rescue system I am so happy to have you on this app that was once just an idea I had while snuggling my pets. I hope that soon (and hopefully with our help), you too can find your best friend.
Sincerely,
Cameran and Clarice
Founder and Founding Kitty
Maddie was our family dog for fifteen years and passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023. My grandma likes to tell a story that when she first met Maddie, she told her "I'm not a dog person" and Maddie replied, "That's ok because I'm not a dog." I think that summarizes Maddie perfectly; she thought she was a person and always wanted to be with her people. Maddie will always continue to live on in our hearts
I hope that through Snooter, your family finds the companion that we found in Maddie for the sweetest fifteen years.
